Banbury Folk Festival & Hobby Horse Festival

HOBBY HORSE & BEASTS PROGRAMME
This is the information for Hobby Horses and Beasts:
Hobby Horses and Beasts get either a weekend ticket or a day ticket depending on when they come.*
This includes camping for campervans, caravans and tents at:-
Bodicote Cricket Club
White Post Road
Indoor Camping (if required) at :-
7 Marlborough Rd
* Your Festival wristband admits to all events
subject to capacity, apart from the Saturday Evening Concert at the Town Hall which is already
Stabling for Hobby Horses and Beasts will be available at the Methodist Hall where they will also
need to register to get their wristbands on Friday after 4pm or at 10am on Saturday morning.
Our Hobby Horse Liaison Manager, Adrian Lay will be there to greet you!
FRIDAY 6 th OCTOBER
Check in at The Methodist Hall for wristbands from 4pm.
Get settled in and enjoy the Festival Events!
SATURDAY 7 th OCTOBER
10.00am - 10.30am - Meet at the Methodist Hall. Collect wristbands if you haven't already done so.
10.45am - 11.00am - Gather outside The White Horse ready for the Grand Hobby Horse Procession.
(See Procession Map) Please intersperse groups of Hobby Horses and Beasts with Dance Sides.
11.00am - 12.00pm - Take part in the Grand Hobby Horse Procession with visiting Dance-sides,
led by Worcester Ukulele Club Strolling Band. The procession route is down Parsons Street around
the Market Place to JT Davies Pub, through the Market Place into Butchers Row via the Banbury
Cross Pub, then into the High Street and down to the Bandstand near the Town Hall.
12.00pm - 2.00pm - Lunch with Dance Sides & Music Session at the White Horse pub.
This will be in 2 sittings with half of the Dance Sides and half of the Hobby Horses and Beasts in
the first sitting and the other half of the Dance Sides, Hobby Horses and Beasts in the 2nd
Sitting.* 1 st Sitting 12.00pm - 1.15 pm and 2nd Sitting 1.15 pm - 2.00pm.
*You will be told which sitting you are in when you pick up your wristbands.
During this time Dance Sides and 'Animals' will carry on performing at the various Dance points
if they are not having lunch.
2.00pm - 4.00pm - Free time to cause merryment and mayhem on the streets of Banbury Old Town.
3.45pm - 4.30pm Grand Finale of Dance Sides, Hobby Horses and Beasts at the Bandstand.
5.00pm onwards - enjoy the Festival Events!
SUNDAY 8 th OCTOBER
10.30 - Meet at the Methodist Hall.
(Side entrance as Church Service will be happening!)Between 11.00am - 3.00pm - Free time
to cause merryment and mayhem on the streets of Banbury Old Town.
3.00pm - Gather outside the Town Hall ready to take part in the Farewell to the Hobby Horses
Parade in the Interval of the Main Concert. Adrian Lay and Task Force Steward Paul Alexander will
meet you there! You will be informed where to assemble before going in for the parade.
4.00pm - onwards - enjoy the Festival Events!
Festival events finish officially at 5.00pm ON Sunday but there will be a Survivors Session
at the Cricket Club from 8.00pm.

The Grand Hobby Horse Procession will be stewarded by our Task Force Stewards who will be
helping the procession to assemble and will be ensuring the safe passage of the procession
through Banbury Old Town.
Festival Mini Bus Service - The Festival mini -buses will be circulating between the Cricket
Club Campsite and Banbury Town Hall on the roundabout during events - 2 buses per hour,
with an extra run at busy times) Only people with wristbands may use the shuttle bus
service. Please allow plenty of time before events to catch the bus. Please be patient with
the drivers as they are all volunteers who will ensure you will all get back to the campsites at
the end of each day. Please note the last bus will leave the Town Hall at 12.00 midnight on
Friday and Saturday and at 6pm on Sunday.
For Liquid Refreshment please support our sponsor pubs, the White Horse, the Reindeer Inn
& the Banbury Cross.
For snacks, home-made cakes, coffee, tea and soft drinks, please support our Festival Cafe in
the Methodist Hall. All profits go to Festival funds. (Friday & Saturday only as there will be a
Church service on Sunday)
There will be a bucket for donations towards the White Horse Lunch on Saturday.
As this event is also to raise money there will be official bucket collectors following the
procession and Dance sides.
